Adsense Section Targeting Clarification

Google's Adsense Section Targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you'd like Google to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site's content. By providing Google with your suggestions, you can assist Google in improving your ad targeting.

To implement section targeting, you'll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you'd like to emphasize or de-emphasize for Adsense ad targeting.

After reading Google's help, I had a question and wrote to Google Adsense Support. The question was - "When I use the special HTML comment tags within my HTML body tags, will Google's crawler look at my meta tags"? Here's their reply -

Hello Satish,

Thanks for your inquiry. Because page section targeting is designed to be used with the body tags of your pages, we ask that you not implement this code outside of these tags. Any usage of this code may not yield your desired results. We appreciate your understanding.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

James

Update: Amit Agarwal in his blog Digital Inspiration gives a good example of how to use Adsense Section Targeting with a Blogger template.
